Many folks are doing really cool work in this space, and a lot of them are my pals! Here’s what makes GV Advisory unique:

  • I believe that to be successful, this work must include play and joy. This can be heavy work, and unless we find the joy and play available to us, we'll burn out and be unable to be of service to each other and the world. This work can be hard, but it can also be fun.

  • Values alignment is a core part of everything I do at GV Advisory - whether we’re working together on data, learning, or something else entirely, we must stay grounded in our values.

  • Every piece of this work has a technical AND emotional roadmap. This is work requires vulnerability and making space for us to be people, together. Without that, projects fail, stall or end up collecting dust on a shelf. This work has a lasting impact because it is rooted in humanity.

  • Because my goal is to make sure the organizations with whom I work don't need to rely on external support for all of their needs, every piece of work has an action learning component, which means by the time we're done, your team's skills and capabilities will have increased!

  • I am committed to an anti-oppressive practice. I am constantly learning and evolving and on my own journey to support collective liberation, and I bring that to my work with my clients.

  • I have been doing this work independently for six years - I have learned many lessons and worked with many organizations across issue and focus areas. This experience has kept me curious and taught me how to uncover invisible needs a few layers below organizations' stated issues.

  • I'm kind, not nice. I will be up-front with my clients - lovingly!

Folks have described this work in the following ways:

“We’ve witnessed facilitation as a genre of art and what felt impossible became possible!”

“Genevieve’s brain is like a community garden - she invites everyone in to experience the growth and share responsibility for the health of our systems and our work. We feel like bees and butterflies, coming to gather pollen and in turn we fly off to nurture our own gardens.”

“I used to think about data and think only of my anxiety and how harmful surveillance can be. Now I understand how data can also be about love and care for a community and their stories.”

“Most people work up to the painful stuff and walk away. GV helps us move through the painful stuff. It’s not always pretty but we feel so much lighter and we’re able to focus on the actual work.”

“By making the ‘invisible’ work of networking, administrative duties, and relationship building ‘visible,’ we understand our work in a new way - which opens doors to funders we never would have thought to approach.”

“Genevieve helps us learn how to world-build so that we can structure our work more effectively.”

“We better understand our power and our place in the charitable ecosystem. We are better positioned to partner with communities, rather than work top-down.”
